We Need a Strong Nonprofit

Fundraising (Development) Consultant.

The Nonprofit Fundraising Consultant will lead nonprofit client engagements that include strategic planning, fundraising infrastructure and capacity building (performing organizational and development assessments, major gift strategy and coaching, donor cultivation and stewardship, board engagement, and fund development planning), capital campaign feasibility studies and campaign direction, case for support development, and professional development education.

This role will work directly with a book of many Catholic parishes, faith-based organizations, and other mission-driven nonprofits.

Work is conducted onsite with clients, at HQ, and virtually on TRA platforms. This position requires the ability to anticipate needs, think critically and strategically, strengthen donor engagement and philanthropic support, and collaborate with hybrid team members to create efficiencies and ensure client deliverable due dates are met. Excellent communication, facilitation, relationship-building, and customer service skills are required to effectively navigate, coordinate, and resolve project challenges. We expect our team members to adapt to company and client needs while remaining committed to organizational sustainability and mission impact. This position will initially report to the CEO and collaborate with other positions within the company. The role will report to Director of Client Services and Growth upon hiring of that position.

Are You the Right Fit? 

  • BA/BS degree or similar college education (preferred majors: nonprofit management, communications, public relations, or marketing) with 8-10 years’ experience in nonprofit development, and/or an Executive Director/Director role. Master’s degree preferred.
  • CFRE or Work Towards CFRE required.
  • Experience in Planned Giving, Major Gifts, and Capital Campaigns preferred
  • PMP and/or Six Sigma Certifications, a plus
  • Experience in a consulting role, a plus
  • Management experience leading dynamic teams of all experience levels
  • Demonstrated knowledge of nonprofit fundraising or corporate philanthropic strategy
  • Must exercise a high-level of confidentiality; be coachable, highly organized, and can execute to meet project deliverable due dates
  • Must be detail and results-oriented with an ability to work in a cross-functional, fast-paced, and continuously evolving hybrid environment with diverse teams and skill sets.
  • Intermediate skills using Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat Pro (All team members at The Root Agency must navigate quickly and be able to format to brand specs.)
  • Demonstrable skills in Word: merge template functions and in Excel/Google Sheets: XLOOKUP, VLOOKUP, and Pivot Tables
  • Exhibits excellent writing, editing, formatting, presentation, and facilitation skills
  • Ability to evaluate priorities and multi-task accordingly, while keeping others apprised of status with respect to firm due dates
  • Experience utilizing The Root Agency’s Tech Stack (See below.)
  • Demonstrable experience pulling reports and understanding operational workflows in a variety of CRM platforms: Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge NXT, Bloomerang, Donor Perfect, ParishSoft, etc.
  • Experience working with Zoom and other online video conferencing platforms
  • Experience in managing program dashboards
  • Experience in building long-lasting relationships with internal and external clients for The Root Agency

You’ll primarily work with the following tools and applications:

  • Slack and Asana
  • Zoom and Google Meets video conferencing platform

The Role Will Perform the Following Activities

  • Manages a set of nonprofit clients according to The Root Agency Partner Journey within specifications of scopes of work (This is conducted within our system as a TEAM.)
  • Facilitates regularly scheduled client meetings by providing executive coaching, training, information gathering, recommendations, and deliverables
  • Effectively identifies challenges, provides sophisticated strategy and process improvement recommendations based on data analysis
  • Produces Word wireframes, copywriting, and editing for creative deliverables
  • Performs independent donor research: individual, corporate, and grants
  • Prepares agendas, standardized materials, notes, and next actions for each meeting
  • Project manages across multi-departments while balancing client priorities with assigned company growth projects
  • Invests in building long-lasting relationships with internal and external stakeholders on behalf of the company
  • Produces all nonprofit partner work product to The Root Agency’s standard of excellence.
  • Provides CRM training
  • Effectively facilitates internal and external meetings and trainings
  • Manages all nonprofit partner project timelines and deliverable tracking
  • Provides excellent file management and workflow for all Nonprofit Partner deliverables
  • Assists with enrollment and product input into The Root Agency’s learning management system as needed
  • Coordinates daily communications via telephone, email, and other software applications used by The Root Agency and our client partners.
  • All other projects/duties as assigned

Estimated Percentage of Work Time Allocation

  • Preparing Client Work Product (Includes Research, Analyzing, Developing, Writing, Formatting, etc.) 70%
  • Client Meetings and Communications 20%
  • Travel 10%

Key Expected Performance for This Role

We Are a Hybrid Company. 

  • Our headquarters is located at 424 Skinner Blvd, APT A, Dunedin, FL.
  • We currently serve clients nationwide.
  • Our team members and vendors are located across the US.
  • Company core hours are from 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM Eastern, Monday – Friday.  

This is a Full-Time, In-Office Position. 

  • This position is an in-person position balancing time onsite with clients and time in-office at HQ.
  • Candidates must live within a commutable distance of our headquarters
  • The compensation for this position start at $70,000-$80,000 with budgeted performance-based bonuses (opportunities for growth and company profit sharing)
  • The role requires up to 50% travel locally and nationwide for client work and business development
  • This is an exempt position which will follow HQ core hours and also be available to client and company needs on some evenings and weekends
  • After completing the 90-day probationary period this position becomes eligible for:
    • 5 days of PTO (can be used for sick/personal/vacation leave) for usage by December 31, 2026
    • As of January 1, 2027: 10 days of PTO (can be used for sick/personal/vacation leave), 7 federal holidays, and 15 business closure days (34 days total). This includes company business closure the week of Thanksgiving and two weeks at the end of the calendar year.
