The Root Agency launched its first internship Program at UT in 2016. Since then, Interns have successfully been employed by The Root Agency or gained internships and positions with notable companies like Deloitte, Cartier, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, and more!

The Root Agency supports nonprofit fundraising through our 4D Approach, which includes Development, Data, Design, and Delivery. We partner with nonprofits to help optimize their vision. Our highly skilled team collectively brings over a century of expertise and delivers results across diverse sectors including religion, human services, education, healthcare, foundations, arts/culture, animal welfare, and more. We continue to deliver results for reputable nonprofits to include Big Brothers Big Sisters, Habitat for Humanity, Catholic Charities, Catholic Dioceses, Humane Societies, University of South Florida, and more. We specialize in supporting small and mid-sized non-profit organizations to better serve their communities. The Root Agency is headquartered in the Greater Tampa Bay area.

We Need a Strong Intern.
The Communications & Design Intern will gain hands-on experience in communications and graphic design projects. This internship is an excellent opportunity to build a strong professional portfolio, network with leaders, and develop critical skills in communications, design, problem-solving, and project management skills.
Are You The Right Fit?
- Preferred Majors: Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Graphic Design
- Demonstrated excellence in writing, editing, and design skills.
- Must exercise a high-level of confidentiality; be coachable and organized.
- Exhibits a positive attitude with resiliency and perseverance.
- Must be detail and results oriented.
- Proficient in utilizing Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Experience utilizing Apple products and/or Google Workspace (Gmail, Google Drive, and Forms/Sheets)
- Experience working with Zoom and/or other online video conferencing platforms.
- Demonstrated skills utilizing Adobe Creative Suite, and/or Canva.
- Experience with Asana and Kajabi, a plus.
- Values integrity, altruism, and our philanthropic mission.
This Role Will Execute the Following Activities
- Support content creation and company brand expansion, including research, designing, and writing tailored materials.
- Assist in creating brochures, sponsorship packets, annual reports, direct mail, annual appeals, company collateral, conference and exhibitor booth brand experience.
- Help prepare materials and agendas for meetings and presentations.
- Collaborate on social media strategy and implement marketing initiatives to enhance TRA’s online presence and lead generation
- Assist in creating internal and external learning and development tools and videos.
- Contribute to client problem-solving and deliver solutions to address challenges.
- Participate in project management support, tracking milestones, and due dates.

- Apple products
- Google Workspace (Google Drive, Gmail, and Forms/Sheets)
- Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Adobe Creative Suite and Canva
- Slack and Asana
- Zoom and/or other online video conferencing platforms
- Kajabi
We Are a Hybrid Company.
- We currently serve clients nationwide
- This is a hybrid role, with weekly on-site meetings
- Company core hours are from 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM Eastern, Monday – Friday
- Our headquarters is located at 424 Skinner Blvd, Apt A, Dunedin, FL 34698
This is a Part-Time Temporary Internship Position.
- The compensation is $20.00 per hour for approximately 12 hours per week
- Schedule and hours to be determined in conversation with candidate
- Portfolio-Building Opportunities: Develop portfolio-ready projects that highlight your work
- Professional Development: Improve leadership, communication, design, and project management skills
- Hands-On Experience: Play a key role in impactful projects
- Professional Coaching: Resume writing and develop LinkedIn content
- Meaningful work in a supportive team environment
